Mixed feelings about the Superbowl

Image
This weekend one of my favorite and least favorite events is happening. All month I have been looking forward to February 2 but also completely dreading this day at the same time. You might be thinking sheesh girl you have some polar opposite emotions about this day! You are right, I totally do!  I am completely ecstatic that the seahawks will be playing in the superbowl!! It's only their second time ever at the superbowl and I am so proud of our NW team! My family has always been fans and well this time the seahawks must win! I even got inspired by a friend to make seahawk scarfs for my business, why not they are awesome! I definitely could have made much more business if I had only thought of that sooner, ha oh well!  BUT, I on the flipside my body is sick thinking about this game day because believe it or not it is the biggest incident of human trafficking in the U.S.  January is Human Trafficking awareness month and as an advocate I am asking for your prayers and int...

Today is my mom's birthday and it's killing me that I can't be with her to celebrate her day! So I am sending my blessings to you instead.  If anyone should be thrown a glamorous party it should be this lady! I am so grateful for her impact on my life and her influence on everyone around her. Let me tell you a little bit about her:) She is kind. She is lovely. She is brave. She is courageous. She is strong. She is gracious, way too gracious with us. She is a peacemaker. She is a prayer warrior. She has a servant's heart. She is caring. She is compassionate. She is empathetic.  She is joyful. She is selfless. She is an encourager. She is a supporter. She is our number 1 fan. She is beautiful. She is a godly woman. She is the best gift giver. She is patient. She is a teacher. She is a great crafter and d.i.y. maker. She is hospitable. She is a great friend. She is loyal. She is faithful. She puts our family first when really we should put her first. She is wonderful. Basi...

World Changers

So far the beginning of this year have been quite eventful. I just got back from visiting St. Louis again as I joined 1400 InterVarsity staff at our national staff conference.   It was beyond great. We were encouraged as we were told stories of how students and alumni have become world changers with Jesus in their campuses, communities, through trials, and even in their vocations. We were reminded as we develop world changers on our campus that we follow the greatest world changer, Jesus!                                                                                                                    It was also great to catch up with other my other intern friends since we have...

2013

Image
Hello 2014 This year I decided no reslotions since I never keep them but I do have some things I wish to do and small goals that I strive to acheive per season. Making goals for an entire year just isnt't doable for me and when the seasons change I have different focuses as well, so small goals it is.   Today I want to reflect more on this past year rather than make a list of goals, however blogging more is definitely one of them, oops I haven't blogged since September... On NYE my family started a new tradition of reflecting on all the blessings of the year. We wrote down our blessings throughout the year and opened them new years eve and wow what a blessed year I had! This has probably one of the most significant years of my life and I barely noticed!  Here are my top blessings of 2013 Urbana Conference in St. Louis This was my first time traveling east and boy was it dry, flat and cold! The snow, company of good friends and thousands of other InterVarsity friends, excellent...

New roles, new students & new scarfs. I have made it to my new home wohoo! I am getting to know the city and I have been slowly decorating my apartment. Students moved onto campus just yesterday and we have been so excited to meet them and start planting seeds in the dorms! We are planting five small groups on campus and that is no small feet. However, we are praying bolding and sending each other out to all corners of campus!  What else is new? Well let me tell ya! Today I officially opened my new shop Kay's Cozies! I have been making scarfs and headbands today and I want you to wear them, ya that's right you! You can find my facebook page here www.facebook.com/kaycozies Bear with me as this is a totally new field for me and I have not been able to go quite so high tech with online paying and graphics. Here's to fresh starts and trusting Jesus!

Hello my fellow bloggers!  Lately I have been enjoying watching all the first day of school picks pop up, seeing fall fashion come back around and drinking hot coffee every morning. However, I am still relaxing at home and have not jumped into the business of fall yet. I find it crazy that I am not going to school and I am feeling sad that I will not be returning to good old Corvallis.  I have been packing and prepping for my big move and I cannot wait to serve college students and see God move on campus!  One of the ways that God has been preparing me for this new transition has been simply by loving me. I have been so crazy busy these last years and I have finally had time, well made time, to sit still and be with God.  This verse pretty much sums it up and it has been running through my mind daily  and it just might be my verse of the year.  Zephaniah 3:17 Let God lavish his love on you and let yourself just be, becaus...

I love the NW

I woke up to down pour this morning..... and I loved it! As much as I despise rain during the summer month, I have seriously been missing it lately.  Every winter I want to move to sunny California but on days like today I know I'm a true NW lady. There is nothing like a good book, some Michael Buble and hearing the rain against the window pain. I am also pretty excited for fall! I cannot wait for the everything to start back up again! Football is coming, the leaves will be gorgeous and I get to wear scarfs again! I may or may not be obsessed with them, after all they are my favorite accessory! Speaking of scarfs I thought I would show you a sneak peak of what I have been up to this summer:) These lovely scarfs will be available for purchase this fall woohoo! I can't wait to see you beautiful lovelies wearing them! I will be posting them on my new shop,  right here on my blog! I hope you love them and I would love to take requests of colors if you have any:) An...
