Blessed are the least of these.

I've currently had the song "Hallelujah" by Shawn McDonald on repeat. The song is incredibly beautiful and the truth of it is so overwhelming with God's great love.
The lyrics were based on Matthew 5: 3-12
3
Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

4
Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.

5
Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.

6
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.

7
Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.

8
Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.

9
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.

10
Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

11
Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account.
12 Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

This theme keeps coming up in different ways lately and I found that this passage was an excellent compliment to the Bible study I had last night with my leaders team. Living for Jesus doesn't mean striving to be the best or who can change the most lives or live the happiest they can. Living for Jesus means sacrificing with thanksgiving and leaving everything behind. It's hard to do this and become selfless as we live for others. However, the reward is amazing and of course gaining the reward isn't the point, but when we lose everything and live in Christ's way we gain His blessings, His eternal life, His unfailing love and never-ending grace.

We need Him, He doesn't need us. God is so great and I feel so blessed and honored to be serving the Creator of life!
