DIY Wardrobe Editing

Hopefully this will help me  slim down my closet some. But the point isn't to make my closet cleaner or organized but to give generously to others because I don't need all that I have. I will be following these guidlines but ultimately I wilp be trusting Jesus as I give away my clothes and my attachment to them.  25  “Therefore I tell you,  do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?   26  Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them.  Are you not of more value than they?" Matthew 6:25-26

It's day 21!!! It has been a fun, creative, and difficult challenge.  I mentioned last week what I have learned through my struggles through this project but it wasn't all bad my friends. It was also exciting to join my community in this and guess what I can totally survive off of 21 items of clothing, the world does go on.  The past month I have been traveling like a crazy person so selfies were not able to happen. However, I promised I would show you all the outfits I was able to come up with. Most of these outfits wer repeated many times as the weather does not like to co-operate here in the NW. I used polyvore during this project to help me get more creative with my items and I documented them just for you!  21 items 26 outfits  Now parden me while I go purge my closet... How'd your challenge go?

The IV NW Intern celebration! We had an amazing time in Socal last week! Six flags was crazy! I am addicted to coffee but this last week I think I've had boba three times! Uh-oh I sense  a new theme coming... I'm seriously missing my college family lately. This is just a few of them as we celebrated our good friends gett'n hitched a few weeks ago!  They are incredible! Also they had an awesome photgrapher..my friend Kaela! Good things just  come from those with that name, or so we like to think:) Have I mentioned how much I have loved the sun yet?! It has been in the 80's all week which is so not normal for our state but you won't find me complaining. I am soaking it up as much as I can! Happy Friday dears! What have been your favourite things lately?

Casual   I have been loving these casual looks these days and good thing I like them because that is about all I've had to wear. It's so easy to throw on a hoodie and jeans when I work on campus  but putting together some basics makes this casual look so much better!  It is day 14 of the 21 day challenge and boy is it challenging! I am getting a little tired of wearing the same tops but the good news is the sun has finally hit Oregon and I get to wear some items I have hardly worn because of the rain. So far I am realizing a couple things, one that my wardrobe looks way more exciting than it has in the past few months and two that I am totally attached to my clothes. No I do not need as many clothes as I have, but it doesn't mean I don't want anything.  As much as I love fashion as a hobby, I also use fashion to define my image and who I am. Most days I wake up thinking "shoot I have to repeat an outfit again, what will people think of me?&qu

The Cherry Blossom Trees are in bloom all over campus  and their beauty seriously gets me every time! I just got my first pair of ankle boots on sale last week! It's a little late  in the year to wear them and they are not in my 21 items right now  but I can't wait to wear them!  The Farmer's Market is back and I couldn't be happier to have beautiful and reasonably priced flowers in my vase every week! As her school year gets closer to the end, the more I miss her!  I cannot wait for my sis to get back to the NW and let me tell you how proud I am of her! She's in her natural element here, little miss photographer:)  Last but not least, it's Good Friday! It's a somber day as we remember Jesus' death on the cross. However I am so overwhelmed by his generous love as he became sin for us on this day so we could be with him and live freely. I'm overwhelmed.  He is way too good for us. What were your favorite things this week? Happy Good Friday!

DIY-ing

DIY Wednesdays   I have been wanting to experiment with the contouring phase lately but I don't feel like breaking my bank! So I thought I would try to make my own highlighter! This tutorial is super easy and it actually turned out pretty well. My only advice would be to pick eyeshadows that don't have too much glitter in them, mine turned out a tad too shimmery for my likely. Anyway happy highlighting! 21for21

Trendy Tuesday  So last week I encouraged you to shop your closets for your favorite spring trend and this week I seriously had to take my own advice! Introducing the 21 day challenge! I have completed the "30 items for 30 days" challenge a few times but this new challenge is really going to push me.  I am joining in with my college ministry to participate in the 21dayproject. This means only 21 items!! Ladies I'm not sure how I am going to hold up for the next 21 days! So, you might be asking "why in the world would you do this?" Well our college group is focusing on justice, simplicity and consumerism in the next few weeks and our hope is that this challenge will help us live lives of every day justice. These next 21 days will help me see what I want vs, what I need and help me not to be as consumed with materialism and turn my focus towards justice.  Do I have you intereted yet?  Here's how it works: April 16 - May 6 21 items  (or 30 items) Shirts, pants,

{Spring Whites} Lately I haven't been able to stop pinning these lovely white ensembles as I dream to dress as classy as these ladies do. There is something so clean and feminine about these white peices that draws me to them. This trend as well as many other new spring trends make me want to shop, shop, shop. However,  this spring I am trying to shop my own closet first before I hit the stores and blow money I shouldn't neccessarily be spending on more stuff. My closet is always overflowing and since it's been months since we have seen sunshine around here it really is like I have a new wardrobe of clothes I haven't worn since September!  Turns out I have five white tops (including lovely lacey ones), a white cardigan, a white dress, and white pants! Looks like I have nothing to complain about!  I can't wait to bring these white pant outfits back. So what spring items are you dying to bring back out of your wardrobe? I'm going t

Changes

Just about every blog I've posted in the past months has begun with an apology for not blogging as often as I'd like to be. I know I say this every time but seriously enough is enough!  Be excited and expectanct of great changes for new blog postes coming your way! I am revamping the blog up a bit, giving myself creative freedom to try to write about new things and having some structure so I stay on top of things!  I am getting myself excited about it as I write this!  So what have I been up to lately? Today I'm going to let the pictures do the talking.                          {Sewing away}                      {Baking for fun, no way}                                        {Listening to these talented ladies sing}                          {Dates with my man}         {Going to the first ever IV NW Mark Camp with my students}

Oh Canada

Image
I love the olympics! They are exciting, thrilling, and incredible to watch as the best athletes in the world compete! The olympics always remind me that two countries have my heart not just one. I have said before that I spent my childhood years in Canada and when these competitions begin again every few years I cannot stop myself for cheering for team Canada as if it were my home country. Now no worries of course I am cheering for team USA but I was raised in Canada where ice skating, curling and hockey were weekly activities and constantly on our T.V's. I was priveledge enough to take ice skating lessons for about seven years and my dream was to grow up to be Michelle Kwan and as I watch the figure skaters compete that dream comes back to me again. I was slightly crushed when the announcers declard twenty-two year olds to be old ice skaters, so now I am sure I don't have that as a career choice anymore:(  Oh well, I will survive as long as I can get on

Mixed feelings about the Superbowl

Image
This weekend one of my favorite and least favorite events is happening. All month I have been looking forward to February 2 but also completely dreading this day at the same time. You might be thinking sheesh girl you have some polar opposite emotions about this day! You are right, I totally do!  I am completely ecstatic that the seahawks will be playing in the superbowl!! It's only their second time ever at the superbowl and I am so proud of our NW team! My family has always been fans and well this time the seahawks must win! I even got inspired by a friend to make seahawk scarfs for my business, why not they are awesome! I definitely could have made much more business if I had only thought of that sooner, ha oh well!  BUT, I on the flipside my body is sick thinking about this game day because believe it or not it is the biggest incident of human trafficking in the U.S.  January is Human Trafficking awareness month and as an advocate I am asking for your prayers and intercession

Birthday wishes

Today is my mom's birthday and it's killing me that I can't be with her to celebrate her day! So I am sending my blessings to you instead.  If anyone should be thrown a glamorous party it should be this lady! I am so grateful for her impact on my life and her influence on everyone around her. Let me tell you a little bit about her:) She is kind. She is lovely. She is brave. She is courageous. She is strong. She is gracious, way too gracious with us. She is a peacemaker. She is a prayer warrior. She has a servant's heart. She is caring. She is compassionate. She is empathetic.  She is joyful. She is selfless. She is an encourager. She is a supporter. She is our number 1 fan. She is beautiful. She is a godly woman. She is the best gift giver. She is patient. She is a teacher. She is a great crafter and d.i.y. maker. She is hospitable. She is a great friend. She is loyal. She is faithful. She puts our family first when really we should put her first. She is wonderful. Basi

World Changers

Image
So far the beginning of this year have been quite eventful. I just got back from visiting St. Louis again as I joined 1400 InterVarsity staff at our national staff conference.   It was beyond great. We were encouraged as we were told stories of how students and alumni have become world changers with Jesus in their campuses, communities, through trials, and even in their vocations. We were reminded as we develop world changers on our campus that we follow the greatest world changer, Jesus!                                                                                                                    It was also great to catch up with other my other intern friends since we haven't seen each other since July. I am ready and geared up with more tools and encouragement to help develop leaders on our campus and to take risks with Jesus.  How have you been impacted by our great world changer? What would your life look like if you were a world changer with Jesus?
